Today’s thought will be short and sweet.
On days you don’t really feel like putting one foot in front of the other, when you’re not sure what you’re doing today even makes a difference, or you’re not sure God even knows where you are (even though you know better), consider a few passages of Scripture that help center me during such times.
By the way, I don’t share them because I’ve got this figured out. I’m not passing along sage wisdom. I’m sharing what the Holy Spirit has to remind me.
Here are some of the Scriptures that come to my mind on those days I can’t see the big picture of the forest for the tree that’s right in front of me:
Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! Isaiah 43:1 NASB
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NIV
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 NIV
We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps. Proverbs 16:9 NLT
Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way. James 1:2-4 The Message
